During SSR, register a deduped `<link rel="preconnect">` for the origin of each rendered image URL, so the browser can start the DNS/TCP/TLS handshake with the provider before the images are parsed. - Only external http(s) origins are preconnected; relative/same-origin images (e.g. the default ipx provider) and non-http(s) URLs are ignored. - Repeated images from the same origin collapse to a single link tag (deduped via the unhead `key`). - `crossorigin` mirrors the image's own crossorigin attribute. - New `image.preconnect` option (default `true`) opts out. - `useRequestURL()` can throw outside a request context; resolve the base URL inside a try/catch so a missing request event skips preconnect instead of failing the render. - Add a NuxtPicture fixture (`/picture-preconnect`) and e2e coverage asserting a remote provider origin is preconnected from the picture sources. It is a caller-facing interface; requiring the new field would break external consumers that construct it. Runtime already treats anything but exact `false` as enabled, matching the optional `quality` field alongside it.
NuxtPicture preconnects the origins of its sources too, so the note that was only on the NuxtImg page applies here as well.
The dedupe is unhead's, driven by the key we pass — say "keyed", not "deduped".
Adds a fixture with three same-origin remote images, two of them `crossorigin="anonymous"`, and asserts the head emits exactly two hints: one carrying `crossorigin="anonymous"`, one without. This locks both the emitted attribute and the key contract (same origin in two connection modes stays two hints, while repeated calls in the same mode collapse to one). Also drops test/e2e/preconnect.test.ts: the opt-out assertion only checked for the absence of hints and cost a second full Nuxt build; the positive coverage in ssr.test.ts is what exercises the feature.
Placeholders render before the main image, so their origin matters more than most. `usePreconnect` is now called for the resolved placeholder as well: an explicit remote placeholder URL gets its own hint, while a generated placeholder stays on the main image's origin and dedupes into the same tag. The fixture's main image is local, so the hint can only come from the placeholder.
NuxtPicture renders `attrs.img`, which merges `imgAttrs` after the
`crossorigin` prop, while the hint used the prop's value alone. With
`:imgAttrs="{ crossorigin: 'use-credentials' }"` the image is fetched in
credentials mode but the hint opened an anonymous connection — which the
browser cannot reuse for a credentials fetch, so the preconnect was wasted.
Derive the hint from the same merged value the image renders.
An empty `crossorigin` attribute also means anonymous per HTML, so normalise it
rather than dropping it.
