Hi, I'm Pavel. I dig into games, build tools for the people who make things with them, and work on anything else I find fun.
I work on Source 2 Viewer, a free, open-source tool for viewing, exporting and decompiling files from Source 2 games. Modders, mappers and dataminers use it to explore maps, models and particles, and to turn compiled assets back into files Hammer, ModelDoc and Blender can use. Almost all of it is reverse engineered, so there's always another format to figure out.
I also help run SteamTracking and GameTracking, which record changes to Steam and games as they happen. I also maintain the Steam Web API documentation and tester and contribute to SteamKit. I co-founded SteamDB in 2013 and ran it for over a decade, until it found a new home with Nexus Mods in 2026. Before that I was a core maintainer of The Lounge, a self-hosted web IRC client.
I started out writing AMXX plugins and maps like deathrun_temple for Counter-Strike 1.6, and I'm still doing much the same thing.
